- Since I heard so many people ranting and raving about how good the S4 was I decided to go out and buy one. I am using a Dell inspiron 1545 using Windows 7 64 bit, 3 GB RAM and since I have had Traktor Pro 2 and the S4 hooked up I have had a constant skipping/stalling/crackling.I have googled the problem, and it seem’s a hell of a lot of people are having the same problem! The only pure solution to the problem was using a different soundcard or using a Macbook.I have try’d everything, disabling wifi, trying out different drivers, playing around with settings etc etc. Some of this has reduced the problem, but it still occurs sadly. From what I have read, NI are aware of the problem but have not done anything about it to help? I mean I have spent 900e on this product and you expect top quality and service, sadly although its a powerful piece of equipment, but that only seems to be with Mac users, and I can’t afford to pay 1500e to buy a well specc’d Mac.I’m still searching for the ultimate solution for this problem, but up until now to still no avail.I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out in a search for the solution as at the moment I am extremely dissapointed. Here is a link to the thread on the NI web forum about the problem, lot’s of people having problems: https://native-instruments.com/forum_de/showthread.php?t=123871&page=25I have very important gig’s coming up and I am in dire need of your help DigitalDjTip’s!If you have any questions please ask!Can you do a clean build of Windows? Does the problem only occur with the S4 plugged in? Maybe switch to the 32bit version of Windows as you only have 3GB RAM anyway.I’ll bet my ass you are running Windows 7?
ASIO hates 7 on laptops… FACT.
The solution is cheap as chips though… Dual boot windows XP and windows 7, keep 7 for normal laptop duties and reserve XP for DJ software only.
I’ve been running like this for 2 year, with only one blue screen of death when doing a lot of work in Ableton while running Virtual DJ at the same time. I think i got a conflict as both were trying to use the same midi controlerCPU is below spec. need 2.4 Ghz. the 1545 is only 2Check your sample rate, I personally have mine set to 88200 Hz with my latency set to 29.8 ms.Hmmm, I’m planning on buying a S4, but I have a XPS 1645 with 6GB RAM, and a 1.6GHz i7 quad-core CPU – do you think I’ll still have problems?CheersEDIT: Oh yeah, 64-bit Windows & too….. :confused:My first guess would be to give yourself a biggest sample rate and buffer size in sound card settings, it sounds like they are way too low… If I lower mine it basically pops crackles drops out etc…OK, so I’ve been doing my research on this one. NI states on their website that the minimum specs are:“Windows® XP (latest Service Pack, 32 Bit), Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 (latest Service Pack, 32/64 Bit),
Intel® Pentium 4® 2.4 GHz or Intel® Core™ Duo or AMD Athlon™ 64, 2 GB RAMMac OS® X 10.5 or 10.6 (latest update), Intel® Core™ Duo, 2 GB RAM”Note is says or for the processors. So is this a minimum spec or will the software ONLY work on those processors? If you have run Windows and the S4 on a i3/5/7 processor, I’d love to hear from you that it works….Yeah loads of people have run with i5 its the norm in a new windows or mac so im pretty sure it works ?Cheers, it makes me breath easier knowing that. ?I just hope I can tune my computer well enough to get rid of any problems which may pop up with the S4.Thanks for all your help guys!Install Grub bootloader or you may run into problems find it on “google ” make working os your defaullt :ie: win7 normal, win xp dj stuff regards marcor the microsoft way they have articles on it ….
BCDEDIT – Boot Configuration Data Store EditorThe Bcdedit.exe command-line tool modifies the boot configuration data store. The boot configuration data store contains boot configuration parameters andcontrols how the operating system is booted. These parameters were previouslyin the Boot.ini file (in BIOS-based operating systems) or in the nonvolatileRAM entries (in Extensible Firmware Interface-based operating systems). You canuse Bcdedit.exe to add, delete, edit, and append entries in the bootconfiguration data store. For detailed command and option information, type bcdedit.exe /? . Forexample, to display detailed information about the /createstore command, type:bcdedit.exe /? /createstoreEasyBCD is a cracking tool for creating boot up menus, its pretty foolproof.. You can create multiple boot options, name drives, rename operating systems and loads more.. the rename operating system tool was handy, i have mine set as “Windows Seven” and under that for XP it reads “Traktor/ Virtual DJ”.. anyone who picks up my laptop can see at a glance which OS to boot in to on start up.
Oh yeah in the EasyBCD tools there is a little script that you can install which with one click of an icon next to the clock on your task bar, will instantly boot into the other operating system to what you are running at the time.
Great for surfing in 7 and with one click your in XP when its your turn to go up
http://neosmart.net/blog/2011/easybcd-2-1-and-some-big-changes/A mate in Bristol had problems in Traktor & wanted to run XP and 7, but he is totally computer illiterate. Phone calls and emails were leading to frustration.
I searched on line for an “Idiots” guide and this method proved to be the closest way to how i do it – they also used EasyBCD and provide a download link.
Print off the instruction or even have another computer handy so you can click on the links, and follow each step, its not as hard as it sounds!
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp.htmlAfter the first time you do this successfully you’ll wonder what all the fuss is about its like falling off a logalso had the “skipping” problem but in traktor duo 2. Using an Asus Laptop, with windows 7 & i5 processor. I messed with latency and buffer and it only helped so much. so i looked into programs running on my computer at startup and cleaned house . Didnt help. Disconnected from the internet. didnt really help. turned computer on performance mode (non power saving). didnt help. watched the processes & cpu usage and it didnt seem like anything was spiking and taking over my cpu. made traktor High as possible in priority to see if that would help. didnt really help. well, could have but didnt fix the problem. finally went into control panel and turned wireless off and it fixed the problem completely.I dont understand why some people suggested higher sample rate. With typical sample rate being 44.1Khz, doubling it taxes the CPU MORE than double because the CPU taxing is rising logarithmically. The first thing I would try is to use 44.1khz sampling rate and test it again. Also, disable “automatic disable of inactive USB ports” – an option found in advanced power options of Windows Control Panel

Aspire E1-571 latency issues when using native instruments traktor pro 2 Cant disable cpu throttling. The opinions expressed on Acer Community. So my traktor pro 2 just suddenly stopped recognizing my kontrol s2. I tried reinstalling traktor, changing usb ports and cables. When I try to update firmware of the controller, the updater claims, that the newest firmware was '68' and my controller's firmware was '70' (??), saying it was up to date.
